CFS Tax Software Importing
CFS Tax Tools has discontinued their Maryland PPT software. They have worked with us to allow our software to import their data. There are some notes that you should be aware of; this page will always have the most up-to-date information.
Maryland PPT Pro has a different user interface than CFS and as such, the importer is a best effort. We worked with CFS tax to get it as good as we can, but you should always review the forms prior to sending to the client for filing.
Some notes about the process:
- Install Maryland PPT Pro on the same computer you have CFS Tax running on so it can get to the data
- The import tool is in the File menu, under Client Utilities, then Import Data from Old Software.
- You will need to choose the location of the data files from CFS Tax. The default provided is the CFS default.
- If you use something other than the default, you'll need to select the folder with the "CLIENT24.DBF" file in it and a long list of randomly named folders (one for each client).
- Forms 1 and 2 are imported, along with multiple locations
Some notes about the converted data:
- CFS stores its address info in a few different formats. We do our best to convert, but be sure to check all address information carefully.
- CFS has a screen to enter assets data for all prior years by year. We have just a total for prior years on that grid.
- In order to only print the Annual Report, you must affirm the client has property less than the $20,000 amount. CFS does not have this checkbox, so you will need to check it if it applies to your client.
- We do import multiple locations, but as with the addresses, please double check carefully prior to filing.
